This painting was inspired by the memory of spending Christmas in a swanky apartment in a posh part of Cannes one year, and sneaking down into the grounds of the building to pick oranges straight from the trees so we could have freshly squeezed juice for breakfast. It felt very decadent to have the freshest of freshly squeezed orange juice, proper coffee and warm, flakey croissants, sitting on the balcony looking out to sea. Wearing a T-shirt. In December.
