About Artypants

ABOUT ME

I took up art again about 20 years ago, having done nothing at all since a rather undistinguished O Level a very long time ago indeed. I've had the pleasure of learning at the wonderful Queensgate Studios in South Kensington under the expert tutelage of Linda Bennion and her team. I also do my best to make time to paint at home in our bright, airy conservatory in Shepherds Bush, as well as our home in the beautiful Limburg region of Belgium.

I find painting relaxing and absorbing.  It's such a pleasure to step away from the computer and start laying paint on canvas. I work mainly with oils, although my paintings of the birds who visit are garden were created with acrylics.  These images, transferred to fabrics, have made a wonderful limited edition range of cushion covers, as well as finding their way onto tea towels, aprons and oven gloves.  Recently I've been painting the goldfish in our pond using watercolours, and these have been used in new designs for a cushion cover and a silky scarf.  I've also started making pottery under the watchful eye of the fabulous Jose Carvalho.  You can see some of the results on my Gallery page.

BUY A FINE ART PRINT, FRAMED OR UNFRAMED

Most of my works are available to purchase as fine art prints, framed or unframed from artypants.printmother.com, or the 'Print Shop' navigation button.   Prices for an unframed print start at £90.00 and the most expensive framed print is £150.00.

BUY OR COMMISSION AN ORIGINAL WORK

If you are interested in buying one of my original works, or in commissioning a work (I enjoy being commissioned to paint pets!), please contact me using the details on the Contact page.

LICENSE AN IMAGE

The owner of the original painting of the Lemons recently had bespoke window blinds created using the Lemons image, which I had digitally cut out of their background.  The result is very pleasing.  I'm always happy to discuss the use of my images by third parties for interior design, stationery, fabrics etc.  Just get in touch.

EXHIBITIONS AND SALES, PAST AND UPCOMING

I am a featured artist on the Daler-Rowney website, I exhibited at Art at the Mills in Rotherhithe in 2014 and in January 2015 I was invited to exhibit at the inaugural Artrooms Fair in London.  In June 2016 I exhibited as part of Artists at Home, a weekend of open studios in Shepherds Bush, Hammersmith and Chiswick which has been going for more than 40 years.

In November 2016 I took part in Art Before Christmas, an exhibition and sale of work by 7 artists local to Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith.  In June 2017 I took part in Artists at Home once more.  I exhibited at the Art Fund Christmas Fair, Godolphin & Latymer Christmas Bazaar and The Grove Christmas Art Fair, all in 2017.  I returned to Artists at Home in June 2018, brought my textile and home accessories collection to Brook Green Day in September 2018 and took part in The Grove Christmas Art Fair once more on 2nd December. During 2019 I traded at Old Spitalfields Market as part of the Urban Makers market and exhibited as part of the new W4 Art Group on 16th & 17th November at the Hogarth Community Centre in Chiswick.  We also had our own small but perfectly formed The Grove Christmas Art Fair in December 2019, complete with live music.  Since the pandemic hit in 2020, things have changed. Artists at Home went online.  There were few other opportunities to exhibition or sell.  I did have a couple of paintings in the Chiswick in Pictures exhibition at the Clayton Hotel in Chiswick High Road at the end of 2020.

In my other life I'm an international music consultant, supporting major brand clients with sourcing the music for their advertising campaigns around the world. I share our homes with my husband Wes Maebe, a supremely talented sound engineer and guitarist who works at various fabulous recording studios, including RAK in London and Galaxy in Belgium, and our cat, Swiper, who is very good at getting his own way. He makes up for it by being the best stress buster I know.  He is also, of course, the model for the ArtyPants logo.
