More about this piece
I was so pleased with the first round platter I made that I decided to go for another one. This time, rather than attempt further hand-painted decoration, I first dipped it in shiny white glaze, and then poured a darker blue over the top. The thickness of the applied glaze caused it to pool during firing, producing an unlooked-for but very interesting effect! Also, one of my fellow students was glazing his work next to me, and accidentally flipped a drip of a turquoise green colour onto my platter. A happy accident as it turns out, as I really like this little spot of greeny blue.
